you can do anything you want

You are only limited by your own ambition.
Look at some of the world’s most successful sports people in the world :
Take the case of

Michael Jordan
He is one of the world’s greatest basketball players.
He famously quoted:
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career.
I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed.
I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
He didn’t give up, he kept on until he became arguably the best ever basketball player.
In 1999 he was named the greatest North American athlete of the 20th Century by ESPN.
In 2015, he became the first billionaire NBA player in history.

Roger Bannister
In the early 1950s, doctors suggested that it was impossible to run a mile in under 4 minutes.
They suggested any such attempt would be dangerous to the athletes who attempted it.
Roger Bannister had other ideas and duly ran the first sub-4 minute mile on 6th May 1954.
His time was 3 minutes 59.4 seconds so he had achieved what many considered IMPOSSIBLE.
In the year after that momentous day,24 more athletes ran the mile in under 4 minutes.
Now, it is no longer a target as the world mile record is 3 minutes 43.13 seconds.
If Roger Bannister had listened to the medical advice, he would not have attempted to run the mile in under 4 minutes.

Jesse Owens
Nowadays, it is difficult to appreciate what Jesse Owens.
Owens specialized in the sprints and the long jump and was recognized in his lifetime as “perhaps the greatest and most famous athlete in track and field history”
It was in the summer Olympics of 1936 where he achieved fame in Germany, where Adolf Hitler did not look favourably on black people. It is remarkable with such hostility that Jesse Owen won 4 Olympic gold medals in:
Long jump
100 metres
200 metres
4 x 100 metres relay
To win 1 gold medal is a superb achievement, so to win 4 in such hostile conditions demonstrates the belief that Jesse Owens could indeed do anything he wanted.
Let’s consider the achievements of people in other fields:

Sir Edmund Hilary
He was a New Zealand mountaineer.
Along with his Nepalese Sherpa he became the first man to climb Mount Everest,
which they did on 29th May 1953.
This was an amazing achievement as many had tried before and had either been beaten by exhaustion or,in some cases, had died.
To show how dangerous this was, some mountaineers died on the descent after successfully climbing the summit.

Such was the accomplishment that TIME Magazine named him one of the 100 most influential
people of the 20th Century.
He put a lot of his success down to FOCUS, which is a message we can all learn from.
He also realised he could do anything he wanted.

Thomas Edison
Edison was a remarkable man.
Although he is best known for inventing the light bulb, he held over 1,000 patents for his inventions.
In the process of inventing the light bulb, he encountered many difficulties and a lesser person would have given up, but Edison was determined.
Here is one of the best examples of “you can do anything you want” .
After many set backs Edison was asked how he felt about failing 10,000 times, he famously replied:
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
This is one of my favourite quotes of all time and I have it written on a card that I carry with me. When I encounter difficulties and may have seen a few set backs I realise I need to keep going as Edison did.

We all have the ability to do more than we think we are capable of, as the examples above show. Sometimes we don’t want to push ourselves outside our comfort zone and we tend to make excuses for not pushing ourselves.

The former US President summed it up when he said :
“He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else” .
There is a lot of truth in this quote. Those, whom tend to be successful in life, do not get there by making negative excuses to themselves about how they can’t get there. In fact, they do the opposite.
If you want to do something in life, there is no doubt that you will find a way. If on the other hand you don’t want to do something, you will always find an excuse. At times you want to achieve something in life, but are cluttered by your own negative excuses telling you why you cannot achieve what you are after.
If you are in doubt consider doing these things:

1. Instead of making excuses why you cannot do something, make excuses telling yourself why and how you can do something.
This is a very important guideline or law if you like, that you must adopt into your lifestyle. Now picture for instance that you had this particular goal:

“I want to lose weight”
There are an unlimited amount of excuses out there that one can apply on themselves such as:
“It’s too hard for me, I work 9-5” or “I cannot afford it” or “I have a family and it requires strict dedication, my life is already busy as it is”
Now with this rule your excuses are the exact opposite. Hence, in order to lose weight and achieve your goal, you must learn to turn those excuses around to assist you. Make excuses stating how you can lose weight. Make sure to constantly remind yourself of all the great rewards you will gain when you achieve your desired goal. Very importantly, inform yourself of the great significance of this goal how you cannot go on without achieving it.

Remember, for just about anything in this world, there’s an excuse or a negative spin you can put on it. All it really takes is a shift in attitude, and the change it makes in your life is worth more than anything in the world. Therefore, change the way you think about your excuses. Instead of looking for excuses to avoid exercise, start looking for excuses TO exercise.

2. “Never ever make excuses”
This is a strict and concise rule that requires much more practice to master. When you have a goal in mind, never ever use excuses. Just go out there and do what has to be done, keep consistent and disciplined in order to accomplish what you desire.

“Excuses are the nails used to build a house of failure.” Said Don Wilder
One of the most difficult aspect of all this, is being self-aware of the times you are actually making these excuses to yourself. Many people go on through life making excuses to stop themselves from achieving greatness without even noticing. Consequently, you must be self-aware of all excuses used at all times in order to adapt one of the 2 rules discussed above.

IMPORTANT: Instead of being a master of excuses, try to learn to master your excuses.
In conclusion we can all do anything we want.
There are just a few examples above, but there are many more that can give you inspiration.
Here is a video that may inspire you to achieve your goals and to exceed all your own expectations.
